Early Childhood Program

Students entering Preschool – PreK can look forward to a fabulous summer of fun at Giddens Summer BLAST Camp!

Each week offers a new and exciting theme designed to encourage kids to explore and engage their world.

Our program provides children with a safe and structured environment led by highly capable and nurturing teachers.

Giddens is a great place for children to enjoy all the fun that summer has to offer.

CAMP SCHEDULE

The MORNING PROGRAM includes:
8:30-12:00

  • quiet choice activities
  • snack and story time
  • opening circle with a review of highlights of day, songs, and games

  • outside recess

The AFTERNOON PROGRAM includes:
12:00-6:00

  • choice activities

Weekly Themes

Week 1 (June 25-29)

Let’s Get Together

This week is devoted to Friendship, Cooperative Play, and Community....Activities include: making friendship bracelets and pins, silly face photos, buddy interviews, and group art projects.

Week 2 (July 2-6)

Please note that camp is closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in observance of Independence Day

In the Trees

This week explores Tree Habitats, Nature, and Animals....Activities include: building tree homes, role-playing tree animal dramas, and sorting/classifying and measuring.

Week 3 (July 9-13)

The Olympics

This week focuses on Fitness, Movement, and Sportsmanship....Activities include: relay races, obstacle courses, basketball, soccer, volleyball, paper airplane contests, hula-hoop contests, and sport-themed art projects.

Week 4 (July 16-20)

Summer Science

This week is devoted to Art, Science, and the Outdoors....Activities include: learning about plants and the earth with fun projects, such as ice sculptures, sponge gardens, windsocks, and fossils…nature walks, scavenger hunts, garden activities, and nature-themed art projects.

Week 5 (July 23-27)

Movin' and Groovin'

This week focuses on Rhythm, Muscles, and Music....Activities include: dancing, singing and rhyming, exercising to the alphabet, drawing in the air, marching and spelling, and the calendar polka.

Week 6 (July 30-Aug 3)

Big, Medium, Small

This week explores Elephants, Math, and Measurement….Activities include: making model elephants out of paper and cardboard, measuring and comparing body sizes and weights of different animals and each others, and songs to teach math.

Week 7 (Aug 6-10)

Lady Bugs

This week is devoted to Curiosity, Counting, and Symmetry....Activities include: observational games that help children learn about ladybug body structure, life cycle, and favorite foods, art that emphasizes patterns and shapes, and songs about counting.

Week 8 (Aug 13-17)

Under the Big Top

This week focuses on Characters, Costumes, and Celebrations....Activities include: costume making, face painting, tumbling and acrobatics, carnival games, and circus-themed art projects.
