Family Involvement

The Giddens Parent Assocation’s (GPA) mission is to foster inclusion and engagement in the Giddens community by offering a variety of opportunities for all parents to connect socially and to plan and participate in activities that support the mission of the school. You are already a member of the GPA by virtue of the fact that your child is attending Giddens - there are no dues or other formal registration procedures.

How can you get involved? First, we welcome all parents to join us at our meetings and participate in our conversations about how the Giddens parents can build community and extend the mission of the school. There are many big and small ways we invite parents to share their time, talents and energy. From scooping ice cream at the ice cream social to leading an effort to collect more parent feedback, there are lots of ways to be involved.

This year the GPA is evolving to include the mission of the Diversity Committee. We are interested in having one or more parents participate in discussions with interested faculty and staff and work within the GPA to create ideas, activities or events to broaden and enhance our commitment to diversity. We want Giddens to continue to be a leader in diversity in education.

Ours is a parent-driven organization, and we welcome your input and ideas. Meetings, which will take place approximately once a month, will include a brief update on current school happenings from a member of the administrative team followed by active discussion of upcoming school events and parent-driven ideas and activities. In order to include as many parents as possible, meeting times will vary between mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Attending GPA events is a great way to meet other parents, learn what’s happening at Giddens, and contribute to the school community in a meaningful way. You will hear about GPA events throughout the year; look at the events and announcements section of the GPA bulletin board near the front entrance and read the Giddens eNews to stay informed.
