Financial Aid Philosophy
Giddens School offers need-based financial aid to enroll qualified students who might not otherwise have access to an independent school education. We are committed to having a diverse program reflecting a broad socioeconomic mix. Giddens Financial Aid Deadline is February 14, 2018.
Applicants are accepted for admission on a need-blind basis. Candidates for financial aid are referred to the Financial Aid Committee to determine the aid award. Financial Aid at Giddens School is awarded based on a family’s demonstrated financial need as well as the school’s capacity to provide support.
Financial Aid awards will be made and families will be notified at the same time they are notified about their admission status. If the amount of financial aid need exceeds what the school can support, some students will be placed on a waiting list for financial aid. In no case will a family’s financial need preclude the school’s consideration of admission.
Financial Aid Process
We know that an independent school education can be a stretch for many families. Giddens remains committed to a diversity of family income levels. A good rule of thumb is: if in doubt, apply. Applications for financial aid are considered separately from a student’s admission application, which means that all admissions decisions are made on a “need-blind” basis. All financial-aid information is kept confidential and is filed separately from student records.
Giddens School uses recommendations from the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) to determine eligibility for financial assistance. To apply for financial aid, you will need to complete a Parent Financial Statement (PFS) through SSS. You may apply online directly through SSS. Please be sure to list Giddens School as a recipient.
To complete your financial aid application, please submit the following by February 14, 2018:
- Your PFS online via SSS
- Your 2017 taxes online via SSS
