Message from our Head of School

Welcome to Giddens! We are a progressive, independent elementary school located in Seattle, Washington, serving students from Preschool through 5th Grade. Since our founding in 1972, Giddens has been a place where children are known, celebrated, and supported as they grow into curious, compassionate, and engaged learners. Our approach to education is rooted in a deep commitment to social justice, equity, and the whole-child experience.

At Giddens, learning is joyful and purposeful. Our classrooms are alive with inquiry, collaboration, and creativity. We believe children develop into confident learners and humans when they feel a strong sense of belonging,  and are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, take risks, and reflect on their own growth. Our academic program is integrated and hands-on, inviting students to connect ideas across disciplines and make sense of the world around them.

From our earliest learners to our fifth graders, Giddens students are nurtured by dedicated educators who are deeply committed to our mission. Our learning community is committed to each of our students and to helping them grow into humans who care for each other, care for the world around them and helping them be ready to make a difference.
