Social Justice and Equity
At Giddens School we are inspiring children to make a positive impact on the world around them. Here, learning does not happen in isolation. Rather, it is essentially connected to the world around us. Content knowledge is presented in real life contexts and real life often contains examples of injustice. Awareness of this injustice, and possible positive responses to it, are explored at developmentally appropriate levels throughout the school. Awareness of our own role in perpetuating or alleviating that injustice is also explored. Students are supported in developing their voices, values, and action plans as they consider their impact on the world. In every aspect of our curriculum, awareness of issues of justice is built, empathy is developed, and action is encouraged.
