Is financial aid available for the Extended Day Program?
For families receiving financial aid towards tuition from Giddens, the pre-registered rate for Extended Day programs will reflect the same financial aid percentage. Financial aid is not applicable to drop-in days.
City & State funding may also be available for your child’s Extended Day fees. For more details check with Mindy Huffman, Business Office Coordinator 206.324.4847 x13.
Why does the program charge flat rates instead of hourly rates?
The staff are trained to ensure that each student is well cared for and engaged during her/his extended day at Giddens. The school is committed to providing consistent, quality staff with a low child to staff ratio. Charging the flat-rate fee allows the school to hire staff for set shifts, thus ensuring the quality of the program.
How will I be billed for extended day use?
Tuition bills are sent monthly and include any use of the Extended Day Program.
What group will my child be in?
Children are placed in Extended Day Groups according to the grade they are currently in. The program operates in five classrooms during extended day:
What if I’m late to pick up my child?
Students remaining after 3:30 pm will be checked into the Extended Day program. Depending on the circumstances, families may be billed the drop-in rate of $30. Ori is available from 3pm-6pm at 802.322.3837 to answer questions.
If you pick up your child after 6:05 pm, you may be charged $1 for each additional minute, depending on the circumstances.
Are there any days when school is in session but Extended Day is not available?
When school is in session, AM Extended Day is always available. There are, however, several half days of school when PM Extended Day is not available. Those dates are as follows for the 2017-18 school year: September 6, November 22, May 18, and June 15.
How do I cancel or make changes to my registration?
In order to cancel or make changes to your Extended Day registration, you must contact Orianna O'Neill. Notice of these changes must be received by no later than 2:00 pm the Friday prior to the affected week.
What is the deadline for registering for Extended Day?
The Registration deadline is always by 2:00 pm on the Friday before the week you are registering for. This also includes registration for day camps. If you miss the deadline and you would still like to be eligible for the pre-registration rate, you must contact Ori prior to the date needed.
